I fervently believe high-quality photographs are vital to placing shelter pets in their forever homes, as well as promoting adoption in general. So many people peruse available animals online - a compelling photograph can spur that person to action. I learned this first hand in 1997 when a co-worker brought a newspaper clipping from the Cowlitz County Humane Society to work, showing a 10-year-old Beagle, who spent the next 8 happy years in my home. At the time, I would never have felt comfortable going to the shelter to choose a dog, it would have been too hard to leave the others. I could, however, go specifically for THAT dog. I now volunteer my time and photography helping PAWS of Bainbridge Island and North Kitsap and Kitsap Humane Society, with images for their calendars, photographing fundraising events and providing promotional images. I enjoy photographing people and pets with Santa for KHS, Prison Pet Partnership and Gig Harbor Mud Bay. I am fond of two-foots as well, so I have also done elementary school yearbooks and volunteer with Western Washington Center for the Arts in Port Orchard.
